Last week we have taught the Digiprog 3 how to update the device kernel by the SD card. Today, we are going to teach you another method by the USB. OK, here we go.

Before your update of the D3 kernel, you need to install the D3 TOOL first. Without this tool, the update can not be accomplished.

After the installation, here are the steps that you should follow for the update.

Step 1. Press the number button 8 and the keyboard button at the same time, and turn on the D3 power switch. Then you will see “press OK to download kernel from USB” on the D3 screen. Press the OK button, it will turn to the update status.

Step 2. Connect the computer and the D3 Mini USB port with the help of USB wire, then the system will popup “found new hardware wizard”.

Step 3. Choose the “Install automatically the software” from the interface, then click “next”.

Step 4. After the installation of the D3 tools success, you will see a dialog box,  then you choose the second one “SEC SOC SMDK Board”and click “next” to finish the Driver installation.

Step 5. Double click to run the D3 updating kernel tool software and choose the “Kernel update”.

Step 6. If you see the “USB connect success” that means the purple Mini USB have been successfully connected.

Step 7. Click the “kernel update” button, choose the “NK 2011-0407-Chinese”kernel document from the popped dialog box, click the “Confirm” button, then it begin to update the kernel.

Step 8. It needs several minutes for the update, when the interface turn from “USB connect success” to “USB connect failure”, it means the update finished. After success update, the D3 will restart itself.

In order the software can run normally, please turn off the antivirus software and the firewall.

Well today we are going to provide you some advice on how to update it by using the SD card.

Here are two important steps that you should follow for the update:

1. First of all, you should copy the inner core document into the main folder of SD card, the copy document must name “NK.bin”, or else, the document can not be recognized, then insert the SD card back into the D3.
2. Press the number button 1 and the keyboard button at the same time, and turn on the D3 mains switch. A message“Press OK to download kernel from SD CARD”will appear on the D3 screen, after you press the OK button, it will start to update the kernel automatically.

After the update is successful, the Digiprog 3 will restart by itself.
